REQUIREMENTS
A second level DNS domain name “.ad” can be registered by any person or legal entity who previously obtained a state sign’s authorization of use for a “.ad”.
In order to obtain such authorization, you must be either:
1 – The owner of an identical word trademark registered in Andorra in class 42 (OMPA - https://www.ompa.ad/en/trademark-registry-search).
2 – The beneficiary of an exclusive license registered in Andorra.
3 – The owner of a commercial name registered in Andorra, identical to second-level domain name, or if it is the case, of a requested lower level.
Local presence representation is required in all cases.
The BA can offer the Local Presence service.
B. Domain name based upon a Trademark:
1. Registrant must be the holder or exclusive licensee of a verbal trademark registered in Andorra. Persons not residing in Andorra must be represented in dealings with the Andorran Trademark Office (OMPA) by an accredited agent.
2. Registrant must apply to the Office for State Emblems and Signs (Servei de Signes d'Estat) for authorisation to use an .AD domain name. The domain name applied for must be identical to the registered verbal trademark.
C. Domain name based upon a Trade Name:
1. Registrant must be the holder of a trade name registered in Andorra (this is only available to Andorran citizens or persons resident in Andorra for over 20 years)
2. Registrant must apply to the Office for State Emblems and Signs (Servei de Signes d'Estat) for authorisation to use .ad in a domain name. The domain name applied for must be identical to the registered trade name.
